The Pakistan Super League started out with a spot fixing scandal and the authorities do not plan on taking the issue lightly. Batsmen Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif, have been accused of meeting bookies and supporting match-fixing activities in the ongoing T20 league.

According to the latest reports from sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Khan and Latif were suspended from the matches after allegations regarding match-fixing surfaced and now they may face a lifetime ban from cricket.

PCB authorities have already recorded the confessional statements from both the accused players and they will likely present a charge-sheet against them on Tuesday.

According to some sources, both Khan and Latif have been accusing each other of wrongdoing after they were sent home from Dubai where the current matches of the PSL are being held. Both the players were part of the Islamabad United Franchise, who was the champion of the first edition of PSL.

Reports of both the players alleged involvement in match-fixing emerged on Friday, after which the team was shaken by the news. Both the players were immediately ‘provisionally’ suspended by the PCB and sent back to Pakistan. At that time, both Khan and Latif confessed to having met bookies.

Three other players were questioned a day after the two players were sent home, but no other player was suspended.

Under the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Code, failure to report match-fixing attempts may result in suspension for six months to life, while taking part in the offence can result in a ban for five years to life.
