Son of abducted retired army officer believes anti-state elements involved in father’s kidnapping
Monday, April 10th, 2017 7:20:48 by fatimaarshadThe son of the retired army officer who has gone missing since landing in Nepal on April 6, believes that anti-state elements are involved in his father’s suspected abduction.
The person who went missing in Nepal has been identified as retired Lt. Col Mohammad Habib, who had gone there for a job interview. The Col.’s son, Mohammad Saad Habib, recently registered an FIR against unknown anti-state elements in a police station in Rawat.
After the complaint was registered, police have launched an investigation into the case and are awaiting further orders from higher authorities. “We are in touch with the interior ministry and doing whatever is possible locally,” said a police investigating officer.
In his complaint, Saad Habib said that his father had reached Kathmandu via Muscat. “I received his last phone call from Kathmandu on April 6, and he told me that a person named Javaid Ansari had received him from the airport and after that my father went missing.”
Saad Habib further said that his father had gotten retired from Pakistan Army three years ago, and had been looking for a job for a while. During his search, he got a call from England from a person named as Mark Thomas, who told him of an attractive job opportunity in Nepal.
Lt. Col. Habib pursued the opportunity and planned to go to Nepal where his local contact was a person identified as Javaid Ansari.
After reaching Lumnini, all of Habib’s communication links were disconnected, including his phone and SMS and since then there has been no trace of him.
Upon investigating it was discovered that the UK phone number from which Habib got a call was computer generated, while the email domain and its associated website were registered in India, pointing to concerns that Indian spy agency RAW might be behind this case.
