Man kills self, teacher, and wounds two students at California school

A man entered a Southern California elementary school on Monday and opened fire on a woman killing her and later himself in an apparent murder-suicide.

The woman who is presumed to be a teacher at the school, died on the spot and because of the shooting, two children were also wounded. Police reported that the two students were not believed to have been targeted by the gunman but that they were wounded because of being close to the slain woman.

San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan called the shooting an apparent murder suicide. The tragic incident took place at North Park Elementary School in San Bernardino which lies about 65 miles of Los Angeles.

So far the identities of the shooter and the victim are not known but the authorities are trying to confirm them and also decipher whether the two were related in any way. This will tell them whether the murder was a case of domestic dispute.

According to the details, the students who were wounded, were immediately taken to the hospital and are being treated there. Their condition is still unknown but apparently they are out of danger. It was also reported that the wounded students were not related to the suspect and the victim.

Immediately after the shooting, the school was evacuated and the students were sent to the campus of California State University in San Bernardino, to be briefed and interviewed by authorities. From there, they were taken to a nearby school to be reunited with their parents.

The parents and students were extremely upset over the incident.
