Pakistan Army takes Lyari gangster Uzair Baloch into custody
Wednesday, April 12th, 2017 9:17:52 by fatimaarshadAfter nearly 15 years of being in the custody of different law enforcement agencies, Pakistan Army has finally taken custody of the infamous gangster Uzair Baloch. According to a statement released by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Army took custody of Baloch on charges of espionage.
Baloch was arrested in January 2016 from the outskirts of Karachi by the Rangers. He was trying to enter the city when the authorities found out about his whereabouts and quickly sent in a team to arrest the wanted criminal.
At that time Baloch was trying to sneak into the city after having fled the country following the launch of an operation in the city against criminal elements back in 2013.
Director-General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor confirmed via Twitter that the Army has taken custody of Baloch for leaking “sensitive security information to foreign intelligence agencies.”
The general wrote on his Twitter account; “Uzair Baloch taken into military custody under Pakistan Army Act / Official Secret Act – 1923 on charges of espionage (leakage of sensitive security information to foreign intelligence agencies).”
In addition to carrying out different criminal activities in Karachi, it appeared that Baloch was also in touch with Indian and Iranian intelligence agencies and was spying for them.
He was also allegedly in contact with Kulbushan Yadav-an Indian spy arrested by Pakistani intelligence agencies in 2016-and was regularly passing on sensitive information to him.
On Monday, Yadav was also sentenced to death for carrying out espionage and sabotage activities against Pakistan.
