FIA official publically thrashes women at airport for being asked for toilet paper
Thursday, April 20th, 2017 12:28:25 by fatimaarshadThe Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has come under fire for the misbehavior of one of its officers at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) towards two female passengers.
A video of the incident leaked online after which a public uproar was created over how badly the officer treated the women and publically thrashed them. A video which initially went online, shows passengers and FIA officials fighting with each other. Shortly after, another video was posted online which showed a female staffer of the FIA’s immigration department physically beating two women.
According to the details of the incident provided, a Norwegian national was allegedly tortured by female immigration staff of the FIA over a very petty issue at the BBIA in Islamabad on April 15.
“We reached the airport along with my daughter Fouzia and Fatima Umer. Our flight was scheduled to take off at about 12:45 pm,” said their mother Haseena Begum while narrating the incident to the reporters at Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
She added that after they had obtained their boarding passes and handed over their luggage, Fouzia went to the restroom and as she came out, she asked for some toilet paper from a female airport staff.
The staffer, who was later identified as FIA official Noshila, got irritated by this request and said that she was from the immigration department and had nothing to do with the restrooms. Upon being talked to very rudely, Fouzia asked Noshila to talk politely with passengers, and this request made Noshila angrier. She said that she would not let them board the plane and go to Norway.
“As we stood in the queue for our immigration clearance, the FIA woman came and snatched our passports and boarding cards. She tore the boarding cards,” Haseena said.
Upon hearing about the incident, the Interior Ministry took notice of it and ordered the FIA to suspend the involved officials at once. An inquiry has also been launched and the FIA is supposed to submit a report within three days.
