Young female poetess passes away after sustaining fall at Islamabad event
Wednesday, April 26th, 2017 10:05:27 by fatimaarshadA young poetess by the name of Farzana Naz passed away at a hospital in Islamabad after sustaining a head injury at an event in Islamabad.
Naz was attending an event in the Capital city of Islamabad when the fatal accident took place. She was a guest speaker at the National Book Festival which was being held at the Pak-China Friendship Center in Shakarparian in Islamabad.
During the closing ceremony of the three-day event which kicked off on April 22, Naz fell from a high stage and injured her head. The extent of her injuries was not known at that time so she was quickly rushed to the hospital. Later it was revealed that Naz fell from a 12-feet-high stage.
While she was in the hospital, a call for prayer was sent out from her Facebook profile, by her friends and family.
Naz was taken to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital, where she was quickly attended to and then shifted to the intensive care unit of the hospital. Despite the doctors’ best efforts, Naz passed away today. It is being speculated that the fall caused an irreversible damage to her brain.
Adviser to the Prime Minister for National History and Literary Heritage, Irfan Siddique expressed his condolence over the untimely passing of the young poetess. He also revealed that all arrangements will be made to sponsor Naz’s children.
A painting competition which was scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi has been postponed due to this tragic accident.
Naz had one collection of poems titled Hijrat Mujh Se Lipat Gayi to her credit.
