After a worldwide uproar created over the mistreatment of a passenger on-board a United Airlines flight, the company has revealed that it has settled with the passenger and vows to amend its practices and make them more customer centric.

On April 9, a passenger by the name of David Dao was dragged-off an overbooked United Airlines flight and the incident left him injured and bloodied. The 69-year-old doctor suffered a concussion and had a broken nose and teeth, according to his lawyers.

The incident was captured on video and widely circulated on social media.

On Thursday, Dao’s attorney revealed that they had reached an ‘amicable settlement’ with United. The terms of the deal stated that the amount of the deal is to remain confidential.

When the incident was reported, United did not handle it well initially and tried to put part of the blame on Dao. However, the approach backfired and ultimately United’s CEO Munoz apologized for the incident repeatedly and vowed to bring in positive changes in the company’s policies and practices.

“We breached public trust, and it’s a serious breach,” Munoz told NBC News.

The carrier has made a number of changes in its policies after a two-week long internal probe. According to reports, the airline will now offer passengers up to $10,000 in compensation to be bumped off overbooked flights and promised to reduced overbooking in the first place.

The crew on Flight 3411 had only offered $1,000, the report said.
