Model found dead in Karachi hotel room: Husband on the run

A newly wed woman was found dead in her hotel room in Karachi under mysterious circumstances on Sunday.

The woman, whose identity is being kept confidential, was a model by profession and she had gotten married just two months ago.

The police and family of the deceased model believe that the heinous crime was committed by the woman’s own husband, whom she had initially befriended through social media. The deceased’s family was opposed to the idea of both of them getting married, so they went ahead and secretly got married in court.

According to the details provided by the police, the woman belonged to Islamabad whereas her husband, 22-year-old Shaheer, hailed from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi. After the two of them got married, they spent the first month in Islamabad and had moved to Karachi last month. The couple was staying at a hotel in Saddar.

Initially, the police suspected that the woman committed suicide, however, further investigations pointed towards foul play.

“When we entered her room, she was lying on the floor while her dupatta was hanging with a ceiling fan,” said Preedy SHO Aurangzeb Khattak. “Even the door of the room was also opened from inside while her husband was missing.”

The woman’s body was immediately taken to the hospital for an autopsy, after which it will be handed to her family for burial. Doctors confirmed that the woman died due to being hanged to death.

The woman used to work as a model and initial investigations have clearly pointed towards the husband’s involvement in the crime. Shaheer has managed to escape to Dubai but the police will continue to carry on the investigations.
