Two dead in apparent murder-suicide at Dallas college
Thursday, May 4th, 2017 11:25:43 by fatimaarshadThe students and staff at North Lake College in Irving, Dallas, were put on a lockdown as it appeared that there was a shooter on campus. Later, it was found out that two people, including the suspect, had been killed in what appears to be a case of murder-suicide.
The incident took place on Wednesday as the school was placed on intruder lockdown at 11:43 am. “Go to nearest room and lock-down. If not at campus STAY AWAY for your own safety,” the school warned in a tweet.
An hour after the lockdown, bodies of two people were found on campus-a man and a woman. One of them was a gunman and the officials confirmed that it was a case of murder-suicide.
Initially, the identifies of the deceased were not known, but the authorities later revealed that the woman was a 20-year-old victim by the name of Janeera Nickol Gonzalez. The shooter who later killed himself was identified as 21-year-old Adrian Victor Torres.
Janeera’s body was found in a common study area inside the Performance Hall building, whereas Adrian’s body was found inside a locker room shower stall in Building F. So far it is not clear whether the two knew each other.
A math tutor by the name of Nasrin Nanbakhsh witnessed the horrific scene as she saw the two were sitting opposite each other when all of a sudden, the gunman shot Janeera three times and she fell on the floor.
“I didn’t hear anything,” Nanbakhsh said. “No screaming, no nothing.”
The teacher then ran to her classroom and told her students to quietly lock the door and huddle at the back of the room.
Authorities immediately put the school on lockdown and cleared it after conducting a thorough search.
