London police charge three Muslim women with terrorism
Thursday, May 11th, 2017 11:47:37 by fatimaarshadThe London police raided a house and charged three women with terrorism, including a mother and a daughter. During the raid, one of the women was shot while the other two were arrested. The charges also include conspiracy to murder.
The raid was conducted on April 27, at a home in north-west London, after the police got tips about the women being involved in some kind of terrorist activity. The police had been keeping an eye on the women for a few days before the operation was conducted against them.
According to reports, Khawla Barghouthi was arrested and Rizlaine Boular, 21, was shot by police, during the operation. Boular’s mother, Mina Dich, 43, was also arrested on the same evening in Kent, located in southeast England.
After the women were arrested, the Metropolitan Police was given permission to hold them for an extended period of questioning. After interrogation, both mother and daughter were charged with preparation of a terrorist act and conspiracy to murder.
So far the Counter Terrorism department, which was monitoring the women, has not given any indication about the kind of attack they were planning to carry out. They are due to appear in court on Thursday.
Britain has been under a national terror threat level of ‘severe’ since August 2014, which means that a terrorist attack is highly likely.
Seven other people arrested as part of the terrorism probe have been released from custody after they were declared safe. These suspects also included three women between the ages of 18-19.
The London raids came just hours after a man was arrested near the British parliament in possession of three knives.
