Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 12:25:08 by fatimaarshadA deaf and mute woman was allegedly raped on a Lahore-bound train near Bahawalpur by an Army sepoy. The woman had to undergo medical examination thrice by the authorities, making the matter difficult for the family of the victim.
According to the details provided, a woman named ‘S’, a mother of three was travelling with her sister and brother-in-law from Quetta to Lahore on Akbar Bugti Express on Saturday night when the incident happened.
S went to the washroom of the train and there, a man barged in and raped her. Since the woman had no voice, she could not even scream for help. After the horrific incident, the woman came back to her compartment and told her sister through sign language about what had happened.
The sister informed her husband, Ali Aqdus, and immediately they alerted the railway police about the incident. The officials went and checked all bogies of the train and arrested a man, ‘K’ who was found out to be a sepoy in the Punjab Regiment and posted in Chaman, Balochistan.
The Samasatta railway police registered a rape case against the suspect on the complaint of Ali Aqdus. The complainant told the police that his sister-in-law had identified the suspect herself.
Aqdus said that the police registered a case against the suspect and also arrested him but he did not understand why S was made to go through three physical examinations. He alleged that the police were not cooperating with them.
Meanwhile the Army has requested to turn over the suspect to them so that they can try him through their own military courts.
