Daesh behind the deadly London Bridge attack
Monday, June 5th, 2017 11:48:12 by fatimaarshadInternational militant group Daesh has claimed responsibility for the deadly London rampage which has claimed the lives of seven innocent people. On Saturday night, a van ploughed through the crowds in a busy nightlife hub around the London Bridge called Borough. After hitting several people, three knife-wielding men emerged from the van and started stabbing people at random.
The attackers killed seven people and injured more than 20, before being killed by the police in an exchange of gunfire. This deadly terror attack is the third one in Britain in less than three months and it comes just days before a general election which is due on June 8.
The British Prime Minister, Theresa May called the incident a tragic one and blamed the ‘evil’ ideology which is taking over the world in the form of terrorizing innocent civilians. She has vowed to crackdown on extremist content online as it seems to be playing a pivotal role in propagating this ideology.
Following the stabbing rampage, London police conducted raids in different parts of the city and detained 11 people from east London. Out of these suspects, seven were women while five were men between the ages of 19 and 60 years. A 55-year-old man was later released by the authorities.
The officers are still investigating whether the suspects acted alone or they had accomplices. Their identities will also be released as soon as operationally possible.
According to reports, 48 people got injured during the rampage, and out of those 21 are still in critical condition.
