Friday, June 16th, 2017 11:08:45 by fatimaarshadEight people were killed and more than 65 were injured when a blast took place at a kindergarten school in eastern China. So far little is known how the blast took place but the police have described it as a ‘criminal offense’. Initial investigations have also led the police to identify a suspect, however, no arrests have been made in the case so far.
According to the details provided, the blast took place when parents were there to pick up their children after the school had ended for the day. The blast occurred at 5 PM near the entrance of the Kindergarten in Xuzhou, in the coastal province of Jiangsu.
A state of panic was created as the explosion took place and children could be heard screaming due to the impact. Two people died on the spot while six more passed away at the hospital due to the extent of their injuries.
The local hospitals reported that 65 people had been injured, out of which eight were in critical condition.
Soon after the blast, pictures and videos of the incident started circulating on social media. In one of those pictures, women and children could be seen lying on the ground looking terrified. One video showed an injured woman with burnt clothing, staggering unsteadily, while others clung to their crying children.
However, it appears that some of these posted videos are from earlier blast footages. Authorities have urged people not to spread false news and images and only circulate news which has been released through official channels.
