Investigation report reveals motorway police responsible for Bahawalpur oil tanker tragedy

Investigations into the accident started immediately and now the report has revealed that motorway police is to be blamed for the terrible accident.
According to the report, the negligence of the motorway police led to the inferno which resulted in the loss of so many lives. Had the police personnel acted promptly, such a big catastrophe could have been avoided.
The report states that at the time of the incident the police were changing their shift and the officials of the first shift left well before the second shift could take over their duties. It further added that had the police cordoned off the site where the tanker had overturned, so many lives could not have been lost.
According to the details of the accident, the driver of the tanker lost control when one of the tires of the vehicle burst. As a result, the huge vehicle overturned and the oil started spilling from it. Sensing an opportunity to collect free fuel, drivers from other vehicles and people from the surrounding areas gathered around the oil tanker and started collecting fuel in buckets and bottles.
The tanker caught fire and the surrounding area also lit up due to the fuel which had spread, causing a massive inferno. All the people who were nearby also got caught in the fire-storm and this caused major loss of lives.
The report also stated that the local SHO and assistant commissioner Ahmedpur Sharqia also reached the scene late.
The investigation report has been sent to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
