Raymond Davis reveals all in book
Monday, July 10th, 2017 3:21:47 by fatimaarshadRaymond Davis was a CIA agent operating in Pakistan a few years back. He was at the center of a diplomatic stand-off between the US and Pakistan after he killed two people in Lahire back in 2011.
After he was acquitted from the cases, he returned to the US and now he has released his memoire detailing his time spent in the country. In a recent TV show, Davis also accused Pakistani politicians of lying to the nation regarding his release.
Davis made waves in 2011 after he shot dead two men in Lahore, who he says were trying to rob him. A third man was killed by a car driven by Americans who were on their way to rescue Davis.
The case made headlines and many people wanted Davis to pay for his crimes. However, a court free him after acquitting him of two counts of murder at a hearing held at a prison in Lahore. The acquittal was granted because the relatives of the victims had pardoned Davis in court after receiving blood money.
“Many people in Pakistan do not believe in my story while in fact their own leaders have told lies and they should be questioned for it,” Davis said while speaking in the BBC programme ‘Weekend’.
He said Pakistanis had strong sentiments on the issue and added that he was not right.
“But, after all it is my story and the people should also try to see the whole matter from my point of view and question leaders of their country about their ever-changing statements.”
He said the people he mentioned in the book were now telling the people that I was a liar. “I am very sad to know that they can go to this extent to paint me as a liar and defame me.”
