Moral police lashes out at Irfan Pathan’s wife for exposing arms in picture

It appears that there will be many who will judge you and pass their unsolicited advice in this day and age as is evident from a recent episode involving Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan and his wife.

On Monday, the Indian all-rounder cricketer, who is Muslim, posted a picture with his wife Safa Baig on Facebook which created internet frenzy. In that picure, Baig is wearing an overall called hijab and abaya, and has covered her face with her hands while peeking from behind. The couple is sitting happily in the car and the caption reads; “This girl is trouble” accompanied the picture alongside the hashtags #love and #wifey.

As soon as the picture was posted, comments started pouring in with people sharing their perspective on how Pathan’s wife should have been more careful. People started commenting negatively on how Baig should not have ‘exposed’ her arms in the picture.

A lot of people called Baig’s action ‘unislamic’ for the mere fact that part of her arms were bare and she had put on nail polish.

Users mostly lectured Pathan on how he should not upload pictures of his wife in the first place, and secondly if he does, then he should ensure that she is properly clad. One use wrote that it is not obligatory for a Muslim woman to cover her face, but it is obligatory for her to cover her arms. In the same way, people condemned Baig for putting on nail polish.

There were others who hushed the haters and instead advised them to mind their own lives and leave the cricketer and his wife alone.

As for Pathan, he was quick to shut down haters by posting the following tweet; Kuch to log kahenge logo ka kaam hai kehna but always #love #travel.
