Nawaz Sharif all set to embark on historic rally
Thursday, August 10th, 2017 12:15:18 by fatimaarshadThe former prime minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, is going to call on the people of Pakistan to decide for themselves whether he is guilty of the crimes he has been charged with. Sharif is going to go to his hometown of Lahore via the GT Road in the form of a rally, where he will be addressing his supporters at different points during the journey.
The rally started yesterday but the plan changed and the former premier and his party spent the night in Rawalpindi. They used the Punjab House to spend the night while the supporters who had gathered earlier, went to their homes for the night.
The rally is all set to embark on the second leg of its journey from the Punjab House. The Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) chief will be accompanied by his close aides and party leaders. However, the disgruntled leader, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, was missing from the scene.
It has been learnt that Sharif is expected to set off on his journey from Rawalpindi’s Kacheri Chowd, where a number of supporters have already started gathering. The traffic police of the city has ensured that the rally passes through smoothly from Kacheri Chowk, along the GT Road to Rawat’s T-Chowk. Alternate arrangements for regular commuters have also been made.
The former premier is expected to move through Jhelum, Kharian, Lala Musa and Gujrat to Gujranwala, and then move through Kamoke, Muridke, Kala Shah Kaku, Ferozwala and Shahdra to enter his hometown of Lahore.
