Finland knife rampage leaves two women dead
Monday, August 21st, 2017 9:04:06 by fatimaarshadOn Friday, Finland became the latest victim of a suspected militant attack as an 18-year-old man stabbed to death two women and injured eight others.
The incident took place in the Finnish city of Turku and since then, the police has been working day and night to get to all those involved in the incident. The attacker has been identified as a Moroccan asylum seeker and he was arrested after getting shot in the leg by the police.
The National Bureau of Investigation said that it had recreated scenes of the knife rampage and gotten important information which resulted in raids being conducted on various addresses in Runosmaki district.
“The investigation is proceeding and the picture is getting more accurate,” said Detective Chief Inspector Crista Granroth, who is in charge of the investigation.
The attacker was also interviewed under guard in a hospital in Turku city, where he is being kept for treatment. It has been learnt that the suspect had lived in Turku’s immigration center after arriving in Finland last year. In his attack, he specifically targeted women and the motive behind that is being explored.
Four other Moroccan men were detained by the police over their possible links to the attack and they have cooperated with the police.
It appears that some person or group is linked with the attack as they wanted to kill the suspect so that he could not reveal more information.
“Someone called the hospital and threatened to come and kill the main suspect. We reported this to the police. We have also reinforced security in the hospital,” said Leena Setala, the head of the hospital district.
