It has been reported that the youth, identified as 19-year-old Ali Abrar, was at the bank of the river with five of his friends. He jumped into the river after he was dared by his friends to swim across the gushing river. The incident was caught on camera by one of his friends and it was uploaded on social media. Since then it has gone viral and one can clearly see Abrar being whisked away by the river.
According to the details provided, Abrar was challenged by his friends to swim through the stream. He was promised a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and a mobile phone in exchange for performing the daring feat.
In the video, one can clearly hear Abrar’s friends prompting him to jump, even though he seemed a little reluctant to do so. Eventually, the youth jumps into the river and he is seen swimming across it. However, the strong gush of water carried him further down the stream and then he vanishes completely into the Jhelum river.
It has been a day since the incident occurred but the rescue workers still have not been able to recover his body.
According to reports, Abrar and his friends arrived at Kohala bridge from Gujarat. Bakaut police have arrested Abrar’s friends and registered a case against them on the request of the deceased’s father.
