Disgruntled Indian soldier issues fresh warnings to Modi in a video message
Thursday, August 24th, 2017 9:00:01 by fatimaarshadTej Bahadur Yadav, an Indian soldier who made rounds on social media a few months ago for releasing a video in which he alleged that the senior officers in the army were involved in corruption, is back with another video.
Yadav is a sepoy in India’s Border Security Force (BSF) and in the latest video he has warned the Modi government that if nothing is done regarding his previous grievance, he will take up arms against the government. The daring sepoy has asked for an inquiry into his allegations and punishment of those involved in corruption.
The latest warning video was released on Wednesday and in the video, Yadav can be seen wearing a uniform and continuing with his rant. He says in the clip that complaints had been forwarded to Prime Minister Nerandra Modi and home minister about massive embezzlement of funds by Indian army officials but till now nothing had been done about it.
Yadav gave a deadline of one month to the government to take up this issue, otherwise they would have to face the music. “If an inquiry was not ordered, I would take up arms. In that case, Narendra Modi would be responsible for the consequences.”
In his first video message which was released in January this year, Yadav had shared that he was deployed in Indian-occupied Kashmir. He added that sepoys like him were living in dire conditions and eating sub-standard food because the higher officials sell supplies meant for troops, often forcing them to go to bed on an empty stomach.
After the video surfaced, the BSF had punished Yadav by first dismissing him on charges of indiscipline and later relegating him to a plumber’s job.
