Wednesday, August 30th, 2017 9:53:21 by fatimaarshadThe Notting Hill Carnival in London attracted a huge crowd but it appears that this time around, a number of injuries have marked the famous music festival.
According to sources, the number of police officers injuring during the famous music festival in London has jumped to 31, as confirmed by Metropolitan Police on Tuesday.
The details reveal that the police officers received these injuries across both days on Sunday and on Monday. It is not clear why the officers were targeted by the revelers but there seemed to be some sort of agenda among the crowds.
The police officers also recovered a number of weapons including knives, CS spray, batons and a hammer during the two-day festival.
“The attacks on police are unacceptable. It was against our expectations,” Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt said.
Ken Marsh, chairman of Met Police Federation, promised that police officers won’t be left alone for it would become difficult for them to discharge duties in such atmosphere.
He said the issue is being taken up at high level, including with the city’s mayor.
On Monday, an acid attack also took place and as a result at least three people received minor injuries at the carnival. The acid used was mild due to which the scale of injuries was not to wide.
The Notting Hill Carnival takes place each year in London attracting crowds from all across Europe. The carnival is marked with street performances by dancers, glaring music and lots of dancing and singing. It pays tribute to Britain’s Caribbean culture.
