Christian boy killed by fellow class mate over petty dispute
Wednesday, September 13th, 2017 6:06:00 by fatimaarshadA small dispute over mobile phone between two class mates led to the torture of a 9th grade student named Sheron Masih, at the Government MC High School, Burewala. The victim eventually succumbed to his injuries and passed away on August 30.
According to the details provided by District Police Officer Omar Saeed, the 16-year-old student was of Christian faith and he had a quarrel with a class fellow named Ahmed Raza, over a mobile phone. Things eventually got out of hands and Masih died due to the torture inflicted by Raza.
However, the victim’s family claims that Masih was tortured merely for drinking water from the same glass that the other students used. The family also alleged that the class teacher was also responsible for the boy’s death.
An FIR (471/17) was registered with Model Town police station, Burewala, under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and the only nominated suspect, Ahmed Raza, was arrested within a few hours of the incident.
According to the postmortem conducted on the victim’s corpse, there were no signs of physical trauma on the body, neither did it show that any rod, stick or any other weapon was used in the quarrel.
The DPO also visited Masih’s family to know their side of the story and tried to address their grievances. A committee was constituted to supervise the process of investigation which confirmed that only one person, Ahmed Raza, was involved in the entire incident.
Following the incident, four teachers of the school have been suspended on account of their failure to avert the incident.
