The game started in Russia but according to the latest reports, it has reached Pakistan and in a recent episode, two young men from Peshawar became its culprit.
According to the latest reports from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), people are playing the notorious suicide game and are falling into its dangerous trap.
A psychiatrist from Peshawar’s Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) by the name of Dr Imran Khan, recently talked to the reporters and told them about the case of two young men who fell victim to the game but eventually sought help at the right time. The two men belong from Mardan and are between the ages of 19 and 21. They approached the facility for treatment after suffering from depression while trying to complete the Blue Whale Challenge.
According to Khan, the two men started the game to see how it progresses and the dangers it poses. They game began with trivial but bizarre tasks like watching a horror movie alone, going out alone at 3 am and not talking to anyone for a day. However, as it progressed they were asked to inflict self-harm and even carve out a whale on their arm. At that point they realized that the game was dangerous for them so they sought help.
Both the men are now under treatment and are said to be doing better.
Dr. Khan has urged all parents to keep an eye on their children and report any unusual behavior. He asked them to send them to a psychiatrist immediately in case they have become a part of this dangerous game.
