Lady Gaga gets hospitalized prior to Rio concert

Lady Gaga was all set to perform at Brazil’s Rock in Rio festival over the weekend but she had to be rushed to the hospital due to ‘severe pain’.

According to the superstar herself, she suffers from a chronic disease called fibromyalgia, which renders her to intense pain and fatigue. She was supposed to open the festival on Friday in Rio de Janeiro and her fans were really looking forward to her performance.

“I was taken to hospital its not simply hip pain or wear & tear from tour, I’m in severe pain. I’m in good hands w/ the very best doctors,” she tweeted.

“Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough 2 come to Rock in Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now,” she tweeted.

A statement was also released by Rock in Rio administrators, saying that Lady Gaga ‘is undergoing treatment by medical specialists’. The music festival is scheduled to take place over the weekend at the Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro, which has been barely used since the Olympics.

Lady Gaga is currently on tour for her Joanne World Tour project which ends in December. The singer had already announced that she would be taking a break after the tour due to her medical condition. Earlier in September, she had cancelled a concert in Montreal because of her severe pain issues.

Rock in Rio is a seven day long music festival which is being welcomed by the citizens as a chance to bring back tourists to the Brazilian city and make use of the Olympic Games facilities.

Joining the lineup are rock concert stalwarts including Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, and The Who, as well as the more alternative bands Incubus and The Kills.
