Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 12:06:04 by fatimaarshadThe police have arrested the alleged murderer of a teenage girl named Tania Khaskheli, who had been killed because she refused to marry the perpetrator.
The incident took place on September 7, in Jamshoro and since then the killers had been at large. The police initially showed negligence but the case was taken up by the Sindh High Court and the judge issued a suo moto notice, after which the case gained momentum.
At a press conference on Monday, Hyderabad DIG Khadim Hussain Rind confirmed that Khan Muhammad Noohani alias Khanu, the main accused, and Moula Bux Noohani alias Moulu had been arrested.
Rind said police also recovered the weapon used in the murder. “The police conducted at least 50 raids at different places before arresting both of them from a place near Nai Baran in Kotri [a taluka of Jamshoro district],” DIG Rind said.
Khanu wanted to marry Tania but when the girl and the family refused, he pulled out a gun and shot her in front of her family at her house in the rural town of Jhangara Bajara.
SSP Rind said that the Section 6/7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act is being added to the FIR, which contained only sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The FIR was registered on the complaint of Tania’s father, Ghulam Qadir Khaskheli, at the Jhangara police station.
The Hyderabad DIG admitted that the local police showed negligence in the case initially and informed that a local SHO has been suspended due to this. Tania’s family also accused the police in helping the criminals escape as they belonged to an influential political party.
