Muslim cab driver falsely accused of molesting female passenger
Thursday, September 21st, 2017 8:08:35 by fatimaarshadA Muslim taxi driver working in Britain had a very unpleasant experience with one of his customers after she wrongly accused him of sexually molesting her.
Criminology student, Sophie Pointon had accused father-of-five of molesting her while she was in his taxi. However, it was later proven in court that Pointon had falsely accused the cab driver due to which she was sent to jail for 16 months. Apparently she accused him of this heinous crime after he refused to accept a £10 note covered in oil.
According to Mirror, the driver described the ramifications of the false allegation in a statement. “I am now extremely reluctant to take lone females in case I am accused again.”
“The girl who accused me is the same age as my own daughter – I cannot comprehend why she made this allegation,” he said. “I feel religiously tainted from this, and no help from the police or the courts can help that.”
Pointon had lodged a complaint with the police against the driver on April 22, after which the case was subsequently moved to the court. The driver was kept in remand for six hours after Pointon signed a statement giving account of the incident. After the complaint was filed, the driver was barred from working for four weeks.
Prosecuting lawyer told reporters that Pointon was drunk when she hailed the cab and she was also abusive. She threw oil-covered money at the driver and when he refused to accept, she ran around the car opening doors. “He did not think much of it at the time because such incidents with people who are intoxicated are not unusual,” said the prosecutor.
The driver’s account was backed by a recording of a conversation between the driver and a phone operator at his taxi office and a GPS tracker also disputed Pointon’s description of the night.
When the police probed Pointon and challenged her account of the incident, she broke down in tears and asked to drop the charges. She pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.
“Your malicious complaint has done a huge disservice to those seeking justice through the police and courts,” Judge Christopher Batty told Pointon.
