Monday, September 25th, 2017 8:22:30 by fatimaarshadA teenage domestic servant was found dead in his employer’s apartment which is located in Karachi’s Shahra-e-Faisal area on Sunday. The victim, identified as 16-year-old Sanaullah Murtaza, had been employed at the house for the past several months but he was not happy staying there.
According to the details provided by the police, Murtaza was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the servant quarter of the apartment which is located on the 18th floor of the Sea Breeze Plaza on Shahra-e-Faisal.
Saddar SHO Pir Shabbir Haider said: “The apartment is owned by senior lawyer Salahuddin Gandapur.”
Sub-Inspector Tahir Mushtaq said that it appeared to be a case of suicide.
The police officer further said that Murtaza belonged from Dera Isamil Khan and he was staying in Karachi for employment purposes. However, he did not want to stay there and wanted to go back to his hometown. He expressed his wish to return to his parents over phone but they urged him to keep working.
Eventually, Murtaza threatened his parents of taking his own life but they did not take his threat seriously. It appears that he eventually took his own life and his body was found in the servant quarter.
After his body was taken down, it was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for autopsy. Dr Seemin Jamali, the executive director at the hospital, said that the body was shifted to the morturary for a post-mortem examination in order to ascertain the cause of his death.
So fat the case is being treated as a suicide case only and no case has been filed against his employer.
