Police release video footage of Karachi knife-attacker

The Karachi police are still clueless about the location of the knife-attacker who has been terrorizing the citizens through his brutal attacks on women. Even though the whereabouts of the attacker are still unknown, the police have released his video footage and are now asking the locals in their help in finding him.

The suspect attacks women with a sharp object and then flees. All his victims are women of varying educational and income backgrounds but they all belong to different parts of Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, where the attacks have been taking place.

“The suspect appears to be a thin man, aged 20-29,” East DIG Sultan Khawaja said, adding that “he appears to be five feet, seven to nine inches tall” and usually rides a red motorcycle.

The police have conducted raids in different parts of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and have so far arrested six suspects. The officials have also announced prize money of Rs0.5 million to anyone providing information which could lead to the suspect’s arrest.

According to the DIG, so far six women have been victimized by the attacker. News channels are reporting the figure to be of nine. All the victims were attacked from behind while they were on foot. The attacker only warned one woman before attacking her while the rest were all unsuspecting.

The DIG further said that so far nothing certain can be said about the attacker’s ‘belief system’ other than the fact that he is a lone person, ruling out any connections with a group or gang.

“The attacker appears to be a psychotic person,” said the DIG East. “Therefore, the police have not invoked terrorism charges as there are no religious or political motives for these incidents.” Five victims sustained minor injuries and were discharged from a local hospital after first aid and only one woman had received stitches.
