Two policemen suspended in Karachi over assaulting citizen

VIP culture is part and parcel of our society and we usually see huge entourages securing these VIPs from public eyes. However, one of such protocols actually drew public attention after two police officers from the crew assaulted a citizen who was trying to film the protocol.

According to the details provided, an ASI and a constable hurled physical and verbal abuses at a citizen who was making a video of a protocol which was being escorted by the police. The victim was making a video while he was driving his car, when an officer saw and followed him.

The officer then got off the car and walked towards the victim’s car. He hurled abuses at him and then started beating him for making the video. “How dare you make a video, your father is going in that car [tera baap ja raha hai],” the policeman can be heard saying in the video.

The person however, did not stop filming, following which the protocol stopped again and police officials approached him, this time making threats.

The incident made rounds on the social media and this prompted the higher-ups to take notice of the it.

Taking notice of the incident, AD Khawaja ordered police personnel to be suspended from duty. “SP Security 1 Malik Ahsan has been appointed as inquiry officer to look into the matter,” said spokesperson for central police office (CPO).
