FBI questions Las Vegas mass shooter’s girlfriend
Thursday, October 5th, 2017 12:19:14 by fatimaarshadThe investigative authorities are still baffled over what led a 64-year-old retiree, living a seemingly normal life, to carry out one of the deadliest mass shootings in the United States. The FBI is now looking at all possible leads which can shed any light to the motives behind these senseless killings.
According to the latest reports, the gunman, Stephen Paddock was dating a 62-year-old Australian woman of Filipino origin by the name of Marilou Danley. She was in Philippines at the time of the shooting but she arrived in US on Tuesday, after which the authorities questioned her. Danley has been labeled as a ‘person of interest’, and she is cooperating with the authorities in the investigations.
According to Danley’s lawyer, his client had no idea about Paddock’s plans and was caught unaware.
“He never said anything to me or took any action that I was aware of that I understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen,” Danley, said in a written statement read to reporters by her attorney in Los Angeles, where the FBI was questioning her.
Meanwhile Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said that he found it hard to believe that Paddock could have assembled his large arsenal of weapons on his own.
“You have to make an assumption that he had some help at some point,” Lombardo said at a news briefing. Lombardo said the attack was the obvious outcome of meticulous planning.
“What we know is that Stephen Paddock is a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and living a secret life, much of which will never be fully understood,” the sheriff said.
Meanwhile the FBI has not made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
