Kevin Spacey comes out of the closet after sexual misconduct allegation

Kevin Spacey’s acting career spans decades and the actor has many awards to his credit. However, it appears that his reputation and career has taken a hit after he was accused of making advances on a 14-year-old boy more than 30 years ago.

In the wake of Harvey Weinstein scandal, a movement has started against powerful people in the industry who sexually exploit or harass other people. Finding courage through this movement, actor Anthony Rapp revealed that Spacey ‘made a sexual advance’ at him at a party 31 years ago when the latter was just 14-years-old.

Spacey initially tried to deflect the story but eventually apologized to Rapp and openly declared what has been an open secret in Hollywood for years—that he is gay.

Rapp,46, revealed in an interview that back in 1986, when he was 14, both him and Spacey, who was 26 at that time, were performing a Broadway show. Spacey invited the youngster to his house for a party.

Rapp recalled that he was in Spacey’s bedroom watching TV when the actor came in heavily drunk and tried to ‘seduce’ him by lying on top of him. Rapp said he squirmed free after a brief period of time and went into the bathroom. Shortly after, he left Spacey’s apartment and went home.

Spacey responded within hours, posting on his Twitter account that he was “beyond horrified” by Rapp’s account.

He claimed that he did not remember the incident but added; “I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

He went on to say that Rapp’s accusation “encouraged me to address other things about my life,” and that “I know that there are stories out there about me”.

“I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

The industry was quick to respond and blast Spacey for his inappropriate behavior towards an underage boy.
