Unable to find a wife, Chinese man marries robot
Thursday, November 2nd, 2017 9:22:53 by fatimaarshadA Chinese engineer who could not find a real wife for himself and was being pressured by his family to ‘settle down’, finally tied the knot with a robot.
Zheng Jiajia initially dated his robotic girlfriend for two weeks and later married her in a real ceremony in March. Propelled by the publicity he got, Jiajia’s company is now making personalized cyber partners for millions of bachelors in China who are unable to marry.
The company claims that it is now producing tailor-made robotic girlfriends with ‘sexual function’ to accompany single men and help them deal with the social pressures.
Meanwhile Jiajia himself told his story saying that he was tired of the constant pressure from his parents to find a girl and settle down. Since he was unable to find a girl in the unbalanced, male-heavy population in China, he decided to build a robot and marry it.
He named the robot Ying Ying and held a proper Chinese marriage ceremony to commemorate his wedding. His family and friends attended the ceremony held in the eastern city of Hangzhou, where his ‘wife’ covered her face with a traditional red cloth.
During a TV programme aired in China this summer, called ‘Are you Hot’, someone asked Mr Zheng what he thought was missing from Ying Ying, to which he emotionally replied, ‘a beating heart’.
Jiajia’s endeavor is being termed a publicity stunt by many who are saying that he just did this to attract better marriage prospects from suitable girls. In any case, he surely has his business thriving with this stunt.
