Tuesday, November 7th, 2017 12:15:16 by fatimaarshadA woman who had dual nationality-US and Pakistani-was allegedly gang raped by a group of ten men in Karachi’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA) area.
The woman—whose identity has not been revealed—approached the Sahil police station to register a complaint against Faraz Ashraf and nine of his friends, for allegedly raping her in a hotel room on the night of October 28.
The police registered FIR no. 111/17 against the 10 suspects, three of whom have been identified by name in the complaint. After the FIR was registered, the police started their search for the suspects, who have gone into hiding.
“We have dual nationality – Pakistani and American. Faraz was my sister’s friend. He forcibly took my sister to the hotel,” the complainant’s brother told The Express Tribune. He also claimed that the family has been receiving threatening calls from the suspects.
“They are offering us money for compensation but we don’t want money. What we want is justice,” the brother said, adding that the family had necessary evidence against the suspects.
The brother added that the family would approach the United States consulate in case the police fail to arrest the perpetrators. “My sister was beaten up by them and recordings at the hotel prove it,” he claimed.
It was also reported that the case was registered on Sunday night and the medical tests of the complainant are scheduled to be conducted today.
Meanwhile an officer investigating the case told reporters that the complainant had torture marks on her body which suggested that she was probably beaten when she tried to resist the attempts on her.
