Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 3:02:49 by fatimaarshadA woman was allegedly burnt alive by her husband when she refused to grant him permission to marry for the second time. The incident took place in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and it made headlines for the brutal action of the husband.
It has been reported that it took over 20 days for the incident to come to the spotlight and that too after the woman had succumbed to her injuries and passed away. The woman was being treated at the Christian hospital and she died on Tuesday. After that a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by the police on the victim’s father’s insistence.
The victim’s father, Mohammad Khan, told the police that his daughter had been forcibly married off to a man named Faiz Mohammad. The girl got married when she was just 17-years-old but the couple recently developed some differences lately when she refused to grant permission to marry another woman. The two used to live in Garah Akoro Khan Village of Tank, and reports of their fighting would usually reach her parent’s house.
“This [second marriage demand] of her husband led to domestic issues in my daughter’s family and then the husband doused my daughter with petrol and burnt her,” the girl’s father told the police, adding that Faiz pretended that his wife had set herself on fire.
Mohammad Khan has demanded that the government should launch a high-level investigation into the murder case and provide the family with justice.
