According to the details provided, the woman was accompanied by two of her comrades who managed to escape.
It was reported that a man had withdrawn money from an ATM when he saw that a woman had closed in on him and snatched the money which he had in his hands. The man started chasing the suspect who was trying to flee with the money. Residents of the area and passersby also joined the man and they all managed to catch the woman.
The woman’s accomplices managed to escape. This was not the first time that the woman had indulged in such an activity. It was later found out that she would snatch money from unsuspecting ATM customers and flee with her gang.
The woman was handed over to the police who booked a case against her and also launched an search operation for her companions.
Earlier this week, customers of Habib Bank Limited were also subjected to much stress and inconvenience as several hundred cards were used to make unauthorized withdrawals from it. The plastic cards were later blocked in an effort to prevent further theft.
“An ATM installed at Khayaban-e-Ittehad (Karachi) has been cited as the target of the attack,” an FIA official said while talking to a local newspaper.
Reports of several fraudulent transactions surfaced over the week, which cited that consumer data was stolen through placement of skimming devices on ATM facilities.
