Man claims son killed due to firing from Nisar’s house during Faizabad operation

The repercussions from the botched Faizabad operation are still being observed as a man has lodged a complaint against the current and former Interior Minister and several officers of the police, claiming that his son was killed because of them.

Zahid Aqeel is the victim’s father, whose son was killed during the violence on November 25, following the failed Faizabad operation. In his complaint, Aqeel says that his son was killed by firing from inside the house of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan which is located near Faizabad.

The victim, Muhammad Zohaib Zahid was one of the six men who were killed on November 25 on Murree Road near Faizabad during the tussle between protestors and the police.

Zohaib’s father Zahid Aqeel has lodged a complaint with Rawalpindi police holding Nisar, incumbent Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and several high-ups of Rawalpindi police responsible for his son’s death.

Aqeel maintains that not only Zohaib, but three other people were also killed by the firing from inside Nisar’s house.

While talking to reporters, Aqeel said that he did not know who fired from inside the house but he was certain that the firing came from inside the house.

Aqeel said his son was vice-president of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Youth and had gone to Faizabad that day in order to help those injured in the operation. “At 6pm when my son along with my nephew reached near the residence of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan … heavy firing started from inside the residence. One bullet hit my son in the back and went out of the neck. Second bullet hit him in his right leg while the third bullet in left knee,” the father maintained in his application. Zohaib died on his way to hospital.

In addition to Chaudhry Nisar and Ahsan Iqbal, Aqeel has sought a murder case against the Rawalpindi RPO, CPO and relevant DSP and SHO as well.
