It was reported that the baby had been recovered from Raiwind and a gang of five people had been arrested in connection with this case. Out of the three people arrested, three were women and one of them had posed as a doctor and later nabbed the baby from the hospital.
Police used technical data to track and nab the culprits.
A baby girl had been kidnapped from Lahore’s Services Hospital on the morning of December 8 as she was being shifted to the hospital’s nursery. The baby’s mother was still in the operation theater, and when she recovered, the family found out that their baby had been kidnapped.
As most of the CCTV cameras in the hospital were not functioning, the police just had footage from one camera of a woman dressed as a doctor and taking the baby away. Thereafter, the police gathered information from other sources including technical assistance. It was confirmed that the baby had been taken away in a rickshaw.
The police used geo-tagging to locate the rickshaw, after which the gang was tracked through their whereabouts. The accused woman told police that her friend had given birth to a stillborn child; due to her love for her friend she abducted the newborn from Service Hospital.
Police identified the accused as Kiran, Shazia, Irum, Muzzamil and Shaukat.
