Modi meets newlyweds Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli

The Indian Prime Minister Nerandra Modi met the newly-married couple, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his Bollywood actor wife Anushka Sharma, on Wednesday in order to offer his felicitations on their marriage.

It wasn’t clear where the three met but a picture of the smiling group was posted on social media, after which it started making rounds over the internet. Along with the couple, Kohli’s brother Vikas was also present during the meeting.

“Captain of the Indian cricket team @imVkohli and noted actor @AnushkaSharma met PM @narendramodi this evening. The Prime Minister congratulated them on their wedding,” said Modi’sTwitter handle in a caption accompanying a picture of the meeting.

All the people can be seen smiling for the picture and in one, Kohli is also seen receiving a gift bag from the Indian PM. Anushkha chose to wear a blue Shalwar, Kameez and dupatta while Kohli can also be seen wearing a traditional garb. Vikas chose a formal suite for the occasion.

It was also reported that Modi received an invite to the couple’s wedding reception which is set to take place later in Mumbai. However it is unclear whether the PM will actually attend the event to which several celebrities from the entertainment and cricketing world will be present.

PM Modi was present at the reception of former India spinner Harbhajan Singh’s wedding with actor Geeta Basra in Dehli in November 2015.

Anushka and Virat tied the knot in Italy last week amid close family and friends. The couple is being dubbed the couple of the year and already their social value has increased manifold.
