Prince Harry urged not to invite Obamas to Royal Wedding

Preparations for the Royal Wedding are well underway and the guest list is also being prepared. However, it has been reported that the UK government has urged Prince Harry not to invite the former president of the United States, Barack Obama and his family to the wedding.

If the Obamas get invited to the wedding, the current US President Donald Trump will take offense since he won’t be a guest at the wedding and this is going to further tense up the relations between both the countries.

Harry and his fiancé Meghan Markle have told aides that they want to invite the former president and wife Michelle Obama to their wedding. Harry made friends with the couple when they all bonded during the Invictus Games.

Relations between Britain and Trump have reached an all-time low and it is also a known fact that the Royal couple is not really fond of the current US president.

Meghan made disapproving comments about Trump on social media during his elections campaign last year. If the property billionaire does not receive an invitation to the Royal Wedding while his predecessor does, this will enrage him, straining Britain-US relations further.

“Harry has made it clear he wants the Obamas at the wedding, so it’s causing a lot of nervousness. Trump could react very badly if the Obamas get to a Royal wedding before he has had a chance to meet the Queen,” a source was quoted as saying.

“Conversations are ongoing about and ministers will eventually have to decide. If the PM lays down the law, Harry will just have to suck it up.”

The Royal Wedding is expected to take place early next year.
