Former police DSP accused of torturing teens for teasing girls
Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 12:50:44 by fatimaarshadFormer DSP of police of Karachi’s Ferozabad police station has been found guilty of torturing three youngsters at the police station.
Inquiry against the former DSP, Yaqoob Jutt, started after the families of the tortured teens accused him of being cruel towards them. Three teenagers—accused of teasing girls in the Police Lines area—were said to have been tortured by police officials on December 22.
The teenagers had apparently teased girls at the Police Lines colony and they later went home. The same night that day, police officials dressed in civilian clothes came to the house and picked up the teenagers who had been accused of teasing the girls.
They were brutally tortured by Jutt at the police station.
Speaking with reporters at the scene, the mother of one of the teenagers accused the police of brutality. “I screamed and shouted when my son was taken away. I was pushed by the men,” she said.
In a statement to Geo News the same day, Jatt had admitted assaulting the young men after receiving reports that they had teased girls. “They were teasing our girls from Police Lines. I beat up a policeman’s son and two boys,” he commented.
An inquiry report has been sent to Sindh Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja and strict action has been recommended against the DSP. The inquiry report includes statements of over 15 individuals including the Ferozabad SHO and on-duty police officials.
