US to announce specific actions against Pakistan regarding fighting terrorism

Pakistan has been fighting United State (US)’s proxy war on terror for decades, but despite doing so much, the super power is still not happy with the country’s efforts in fighting this war.

The White House on Tuesday said that it wanted to see Pakistan do more to fight terrorism and that it would likely announce specific actions to pressure Islamabad within the next 24 to 48 hours.

“Our goal is that we know that they can do more to stop terrorism and we want them to do that,” White House spokesperson Sarah Sanders told reporters.

“In terms of specific actions, I think you’ll see some more details come out on that in the next 24 to 48 hours.”

On Monday, US President Donald Trump posted a tweet saying that the US ‘foolishly’ gave aid to Pakistan over the course of 15 years but the country remained deceitful by providing safe havens to terrorists from Afghanistan.

“The United States has foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit, thinking of our leaders as fools. They give safe haven to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!,” Trump said in his tweet.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said on Tuesday that the US was withholding $255 million in aid from Pakistan because of its failure to cooperate fully in America’s war against terrorism.

Meanwhile Pakistan Army rejected US’s demands for doing more, saying that it was already doing a lot for this war and had lost too many precious lives.
