The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has recently acknowledged that it was the group which killed Pakistan’s former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto. This revelation sent shockwaves across the country as this is the first time that the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the murder.

The book titled ‘Inqilab Mehsood South Waziristan — From British Raj to American Imperialism’, is 689 pages long and has been written by TTP leader Abu Mansoor Asim Mufti Noor Wali. The book also has other shocking revelations and is sure to provide deep insights into the group’s workings.

The former prime minister and leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Benazir Bhutto was murdered in a gun-and-suicide attack which was aimed at her in Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on December 27, 2007. The attack took place during military ruler Parvez Musharaf’s tenure, and many still blame him for her death.

The book reveals the names of the two attackers who were tasked to kill Benazir Bhutto. One of them was named Bilal and the other was Ikramullah. Bilal opened fire at Benazir first and then detonated his suicide vest, killing the leader. Ikramullah managed to flee the scene unharmed and he still roams free.

The book claims that a similar attack on Benazir on her procession at Karsaz on October 18, 2007, was carried out upon the group’s chief Baitullah Mehsud’s orders.

He said that despite the threats to the leader’s life, the Pakistani government did not do enough to protect her, making her an easy target.
