Investigations reveal Zainab’s murder suspect has no bank account
Friday, January 26th, 2018 7:08:24 by fatimaarshadFamous TV show host Dr. Shahid Masood had alleged in his show that the murder suspect in Zainab’s rape and murder case holds a number of foreign bank accounts. Based on these allegations, the Supreme Court (SC) had formed a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe these and other allegations against the suspect.
In a letter to the JIT, the State Bank of Pakistan confirmed that the suspect, Imran Ali, has no commercial bank account.
“All commercial banks have informed that they have searched their databases and found no account of the accused against the said CNIC,” the letter read.
While talking to reporters, Punjab government spokesman Malik Ahmed Khan said that the allegations levied by Dr. Masood were found to be ‘fake and fabricated’.
“The news presented by Dr Shahid Masood is absolutely fake and fabricated,” Malik Ahmed Khan said, adding that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had confirmed that no foreign currency commercial bank accounts of the accused were found.
Dr. Masood had also alleged that a prominent member of PML-N was also involved in child pornography business. When a reporter asked about this particular issue, Malik said that “those who faced character assassination” have a right to appear in court and clear their name”.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday rescheduled the hearing of the case and will now hold the hearing on Sunday in Lahore’s SC registry.
The hearing was earlier scheduled for Monday.
Punjab’s advocate general, IG Jail and DG forensics Punjab have been issued notices for appearing before the court.
