Police unable to capture wanted officer Rao Anwar
Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 8:31:50 by fatimaarshadEven after the three-day deadline to arrest former SSP of Sindh police ended on Tuesday, he is still evading authorities and is on the loose. The deadline was given by the Supreme Court (SC) as Anwar is wanted for the alleged killing of Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud.
According to the details provided, the Sindh police are still clueless about Anwar’s whereabouts. On Saturday, the apex court ordered Sindh’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Allah Dino Khawaja to arrest Anwar for Mehsud’s abduction and killing in a staged encounter which took place on January 13, and to present him before the court within three days.
The court had taken this decision in light of the findings presented by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probe the incident. The JIT had concluded that the so-called encounter in which Mehsud and three other people were killed was ‘staged’.
After finding no trace of Anwar in Karachi, the Sindh police, along with help from Islamabad police raided a house in Islamabad’s F-10/4 sector which belonged to the former SSP’s wife. However, the house was found to be empty and locked from outside.
The raiding officers put up a display before leaving the house in which Anwar’s picture is pasted along with the message that he is a wanted criminal and any information regarding his whereabouts should be shared with SSP Investigation Malir Abid Hussain Qaimkhani.
The police are scheduled to submit their reply in the apex court today.
