Boat carrying 32 Pakistanis capsizes in Mediterranean Sea
Monday, February 5th, 2018 12:01:54 by fatimaarshadA horrible tragedy took place on January 31, when a boat carrying around 90 people, including 32 Pakistanis, capsized in the Mediterranean Sea. The boat was carrying illegal migrants who were trying to reach Europe in hopes of finding employment.
It has been reported that a five-year-old boy and a newborn girl were also on the boat along with their parents. The family belonged to Kharian, which is a small town close to Gujrat.
According to details available on the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, body of the five-year-old boy, Saad Ali, had not been recovered till this report was filed.
Whereabouts of Saad’s one-and-a-half-month-old sister were unknown as the list that has been issued so far does not mention any toddler.
According to the information released by the Ministry, a person named Zabiullah, whose body has been found but not recovered yet, also came from the same city.
Others from Gujrat whose details have been received so far included Luqman Ali and Hamza from Jalalpur Jattan and Kamran Iqbal from Dinga – two cities in Gujrat.
It has also been reported that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has apprehended the central character of the human smuggling ring who sent these individuals for illegal migration.
The prime suspect, Mehboob Shah, was apprehended along with an accomplice, Mudassir, during a raid in Gujrat, said Mufakhir Adeel, deputy director of the FIA.
“Mehboob Shah is Gaddi Nasheen (administrative head) of Darbar Baba Faqeer Shah, who had sent deceased of shipwreck incident to Libya,” the official said
