Police arrest close aide of SSP Rao Anwar in connection with Naqeebullah murder case
Tuesday, February 20th, 2018 11:35:27 by fatimaarshadEver since the extrajudicial killing of South Waziristan native Naqeebullah Mehsud was discovered, the police have been on the lookout for SSP Rao Anwar and his accomplices who carried out this crime.
In a latest series of events, the police have arrested a close aide of the former SSP, ex-DSP Qamar Ahmed, and it is being hoped that he will give useful information which can lead to the arrest of Anwar.
Police sources revealed that a team, headed by Additional IG Sindh Aftab Pathan summoned the former Malir investigators SP Malik Aftab Sarwar and DSP Qamar Ahmed, in order to drill them on Naqeeb’s murder.
Eventually the team detained DSP Qamar as he did not satisfy the interrogators. On the other hand the SP was allowed to leave on the condition that he would provide details of every encounter that took place during Anwar’s tenure.
It has been learnt that both SP Sarwar and DSP Qamar were very close to SSP Anwar and they have been at the same Malir station for a considerable amount of time. These sources are expected to reveal more details regarding how SSP Anwar used to operate and carry out the fake encounters.
Police have also detained a constable by the name of Guddu and with his arrest, the number of detainments with this murder case has risen to 11.
Meanwhile ever since the court has ordered the arrest of SSP Anwar for Naqeeb’s murder, he has been on the run and so far the police have failed to arrest him.
