General Raheel Sharif appointed as the new army chief Islamabad : Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, has been appointed the new commander and Lt Gen Rashid Mehmood will be the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. The president grateful Hussain under Article 3 of the Constitution appointed Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif , Lt Gen Rashid Mehmood to the rank of General. Starting tomorrow both lieutenant General will be full Generals. Starting November 29, Gen Raheel Sharif will replace General Pervez Kiyani as a new army chief . On the same day, the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee , General Rashid Mehmood will assume the office. The General Raheel Sharif is the younger brother of Raheel Sharif who laid down his life to defend the country 's honor. Raheel Sharif has the honor of Commanding Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. After the appoitment of the new Army Chief on Nov 30 , 2010, Raheel Sharif was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General of the Pakistan Army Corps commander Gujranwala. Currently Raheel Sharif is appointed as Inspector General Training and evaluation at the General GHQ.
